Dynamic Interactions of Particles and Droplets with Structured Component Surfaces


In this project the influence of the morphology of structured component surfaces on the dynamic interactions with particles and droplets is investigated. The effects of the morphology will be described with analytical contact models and simulated with the Discrete Element Method (DEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The models will be validated using collision experiments. During these experiments the collision behaviour and energy absorption in the micro contact of the fine particles and droplets with structured component surfaces will be measured and analyzed using high speed cameras coupled with distance microscopes.
