Analysis and Modelling of the Surface structuring through lapping

In lapping, the surface morphology results from complex interaction between the kinematics of abrasive particles, the influence of the fluid film and the material removal process, which will be investigated experimentally and modelled numerically. Therefore, a physical-based material removal model, and basic models of the kinematics of particles and of the fluid behavior in small gaps will be developed and finally coupled to a process model of lapping. Based on this process model, parameter interactions can be studied and sufficient parameter combination for micro structuring the workpiece surface can be defined.
