Surface Structuring by Cold-sprayed Fine Particles

In this project, the component surfaces from titanium and steel will be structured with surface-modified fine particles (< 5 µm) using a cold spray process to influence the morphology of the component surface and modify its functionality. Two process scenarios will be studied: 1) a closed homogeneous layer on the particles; 2) a porous layer on the particles. To increase the deposition and adhesion rate of the particles on the component surface, the influence of different parameters has to be investigated by experiments and CFD-DEM simulations.
